The Story of the House of Yes
It's inspiring what beauty can be born from ashes. On May 22nd,
2008 a four alarm fire consumed the hopes, dreams and thousands of hours of
hard work by half dozen ambitious artists and performers. Hope is an
amazing thing, an entity that isn't easily destroyed. With the support of
a huge community of performers, artists and builders the House of Yes was
reborn in a breathtaking reclaimed warehouse building complete with three
floors of art making space, 30 foot tall aerial rigging, staging and more.
Blood, sweat, tears and tens of thousands of dollars went into building
what is now a mecca for performance, community events, art making and
skill share. The House of Yes is a space that enables the
impossible.
The House of Yes is the home of the Sky Box aerial studio, the Lady Circus
Performance Troupe and the sewing studio Make Fun. With sold-out shows,
constant rehearsals and events happening six days a week, the House of Yes
fills a crucial role in a community of hundreds. The facilities at Yes
simply don't exist anywhere else in a way that is financially accessible to
such a large and varied amount of people. In order to survive and continue to
expand to serve the community better, the House of Yes is in urgent need of
raising $17,000 by December 12th. All donations are tax deductible, as
we are sponsored by a 501c3 not for profit Artistic Evolution.
We believe in the power of community grown art and performance. If you share this belief please support us in any way you can.
